Heather Whiting represents family law clients in a variety of matters, including divorce, parental rights and responsibilities, divorce mediation, and estate planning. She is a rostered Guardian ad litem, representing children in court. She also represents clients in probate court, handling guardianships, will contests, and the administration of estates. Heather began her legal career as a corporate lawyer, working for large firms in Washington, DC and Portland. She is a past Chair of the Family Law Section of the Maine State Bar Association (2014-2015) and an editor of A Practical Guide to Divorce in Maine, published by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education New England. Her volunteer activities include the Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) domestic violence panel and the Homeless Legal Aid Clinic. She was recognized by the Kathahdin Counsel for her dedication to providing pro bono legal services to low income Maine residents (2012-2015) and is a past recipient of a VLP Pro Bono Publico Award in the area of family law. Heather is a founding member of the Maine Collaborative Law Alliance, and is on executive committees for Kids First Center and the Lawyer Referral Service. She is a graduate of the American University Washington College of Law.
Heather lives in Falmouth with her husband, three children, and two dogs. She enjoys spending time with them in Maine's great outdoors - camping, skiing, hiking, biking, and going to the beach.
